Clay Tile

Finished Piece
In art, we made a clay piece by choosing three different objects (for our fore, middle, and background) and then drawing a sketch on paper of how we wanted our tile to look. When we first started, I was skeptical that my finished piece would turn out like my sketch, because it was really hard to manipulate the clay how you wanted it. However, I feel like my finished product highly resembles my sketch. I thought this project was surprisingly fun, even though at times it was a little tedious, especially doing the seashells. Carving each one and then painting them was a nightmare. I feel like the best part of this piece is the starfishes; I love their color and texture. The crab turned out okay, but I feel like the legs could have been done a little bit better. However, I am very pleased witht the outcome of this piece.

Acrylic Painting

Finished Product

In art, we painted paintings that had a foreground, middle-ground, and background. My foreground is the chairs, and I thought that they were slightly hard because they had so many thin lines. My middle-ground is the boat, which wasn't as hard to paint. I did both in pencil and then painted over it. I thought this was a very fun project because it was my first time painting on a canvas. I think overall it turned over well, but I think it looked better before I painted the chairs and boat - when it was just the beach and clouds. I feel like the clouds turned out really good; they are my favorite part of this piece. Overall, I feel like this was a very nice project and that my piece turned out better than I expected.
